After a gorgeous day exploring Santorini, the next morning we awoke to strong winds and white caps dotting the turquoise waters surrounding the island of Mykonos, our port call and island destination of the day. Thankful that we didn’t have to tender into port we stepped off our cruise ship after a slow start to the morning and headed for the cool, calm whitewashed buildings trimmed with pops of fun vibrant blues, reds, and greens.
First up? Checking out the famous windmills that dot the Mykonos shoreline just beyond the “Little Venice” restaurant stretch. With the strong gusts kicking up the sand every now and then it was a short excursion before we decided to seek shelter at a souvlaki stand.
After lingering over an iced coffee (something Greece does so well!) and slow strolling through the shop-lined cobblestoned streets back to the ship we bid antío to Mykonos and settled ourselves into some poolside chairs for a drowsy afternoon nap. Greek life is good life!
