Photo Diary: Chamonix-Mont Blanc From Up High

October 2015

One of the first pictures I ever pinned on my “Travel” Pinterest board was an image of Chamonix-Mont Blanc in the French Alps taken from the deck of the Restaurant le Panoramic nestled atop the 8,284 feet high peak of Le Brévent. Ever since then, making a trip to Chamonix has been on my bucket list of experiences in order to admire the snow capped peaks of the Mont Blanc range from le top in person. Since my family and I were going to be spending the week on holiday in nearby Lyon, it only made sense to make a day trip out to Chamonix and finally cross it off my bucket list!

Unfortunately since it was the shoulder season between the busy summer and winter tourist crowds, several of the lifts were closed including the one with the best views along the Italian border, the Aiguille du Midi gondola, as well as the Restaurant le Panoramic but the Le Brévent gondola was still running and the sky-high views from the top were nothing short of amazing.

And I got an almost replica picture of my own of the snowy vista from the restaurant deck; though its sans diners, I find I enjoy the undistracted view of the mountains even more! What about you, has a picture from a magazine or Pinterest ever inspired you to visit somewhere in particular?
