Photo Diary: Feeling Festive at Berlin’s Christmas Markets

Dan and I had so much fun last year celebrating the holidays with Dan’s parents while wandering through Bavaria’s famed Christmas markets picking up unique traditional Christmas ornaments and sipping on festive holiday drinks that we decided to head to Germany again to get feel that Christmas magic!

Over our two night stay in Berlin, we made the rounds at several of the dozen markets set up around the city, sipping on blueberry glühwein and wandering the stalls of boutique gifts for sale at Gendarmenmarkt, riding the ferris wheel and enjoying a visit from Santa as his reindeer and sled flew through the air (!) at Schlossplatz, and warming up with cognac doused hot chocolate and rostbratwürste over at Alexanderplatz.

On our last day in Berlin, snow flurries added a magical but very cold touch to the holiday cheer!

  1. That market looks amazing! I’d love to go to an actual German Christmas market one of these years! The ones in London are way too crowded, and Birmingham’s is ok (though also crowded), but I’d love to see the real thing!
