Considered one of France’s most picturesque villages, the lakefront locale of Annecy doesn’t disappoint. With romantic canals lined with charming pastel colored buildings and mountain views to boot, the alpine city paints a pretty picture.
Dan and I, along with our extended family, were spending the week in Lyon and decided to make the easy day trip up to Annecy, just south of Geneva and the Switzerland border, a two hour picturesque drive through the splendid fall colors of the countryside. Seriously, every time we emerged out of the many mountain tunnels en route we all exclaimed “oooooh!” when greeted with the new stunning view.
During our brief stay in Annecy we had two missions: to make short work of a hot plate of raclette (chunks of semi-melted cheese served with potatoes, pickles, sausage, and bread!) and then to walk off the food coma by wandering along the canals and the lake.
Take a look and let me know what you think, does Annecy deserve the title of picturesque?
